Short version: for most lawns up to about a quarter acre, we'd pick the EGO LM2114 push kit. EGO claims up to 55 minutes, and in our estimate one charge covers about 12,700 sq ft of normal grass. For slopes, the EGO LM2114SP is the same mower with a drive. For bigger lawns, the Greenworks 60V self-propelled comes with two batteries. For a small flat yard, the Greenworks 40V 16 inch is light and simple.

Skip it if your yard has real slopes or you tire easily, because a 21 inch mower is a lot to push uphill. EGO claims up to 55 minutes from the 56V 6.0Ah battery in the box. In our estimate that covers about 12,700 sq ft in normal grass, the most of any single battery kit here. The included charger refills the battery in about 80 minutes, per EGO.

It is the same mower family and the same 56V 6.0Ah battery as the push kit above, and EGO claims up to 50 minutes instead of 55. That 5 minute gap is the maker's own number for what the drive costs.

Greenworks says up to 3/4 acre and up to 1 hour from the two 60V 4.0Ah batteries. To cover 3/4 acre in an hour you would have to walk 3.5 mph without overlapping a pass or turning. In our estimate one full charge of both batteries covers about 13,900 sq ft in normal grass. The dual port charger refills both in 80 minutes, per Greenworks.

Greenworks' own page says up to 1/3 acre at the top and 1/4 acre in its spec table, with up to 40 minutes of runtime. The Amazon spec table says 35 minutes. Covering 1/3 acre in 40 minutes with a 16 inch deck means walking 3.1 mph with no overlap and no turns. Our estimate for one charge is about 6,800 sq ft in normal grass.

That works out to 1.3 mph, a slow walk, so this is the one acre claim here that survives the math.

LawnMaster claims up to 40 minutes from two 24V MAX 4.0Ah batteries. The listing gives no acre figure. Our estimate for one charge is about 8,300 sq ft in normal grass.
